I can’t believe this is my 90th blog. Thank you to the InspirED learning community that continues to fill my life with inspiration and support.
As you may be aware, I’ve always regarded the importance of educators because they are the ones that are supporting our students day-to-day. I have sought ways to serve as an educational leader starting with when I was the ELA department chair at a high school and then, as a role model, I had the privilege of being a part of a first step program as a mentor for student teachers. I will proudly say that my student teachers all became wonderful educators in a school district. I have been asked from time-to-time to come and speak with a cohort of first year teachers at Georgia State University, as I have continued to maintain a strong, professional relationship with the professors in their Masters of Arts in Teaching program. Suffice it to say, I am dedicated to ensuring educators have the support and tools they need to support students.
FINDING YOUR WHY IN EDUCATION
I want to say my WHY is simply to support teachers with inspiration. I think the real WHY for me is that I just like to connect with other educators and collaborate. This is probably the reason why my dream has been to hold conferences for educators in Orlando, FL (with the Disney parks as makerspaces of inspiration) to collaborate.
WHAT IS THE EDMAGINEERING EDUCATION CONFERENCE
The Edmagineering Education Conference is a four-day professional development taking place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, June 19 through June 22, where a small group of innovative, like-minded educators come together in a workshop and makerspace setting to learn, explore, share, discuss, design, and FOCUS on a personalized project for an idea, concept, or solution to a problem. Through collective brainstorming, sharing, education, accountability and design thinking, there is opportunity for growth and results.
HOW IS THIS CONFERENCE DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS
Myself, along with the My Disney Class guys and former-Imagineer Brian Collins, will share practical and tactical protocols and strategies we can learn, and use inspired by collaboration and the Disney Parks. In this interactive conference, you will use Imagineering strategies and blue sky thinking to create a visual story of your personalized idea, concept, or solution to a problem.
Not limited to just this list of ideas, concepts, or solutions, you can focus on:
Facilitators and participants will share not just their personal experiences as educators, but challenges, lessons, and pitfalls to avoid, as well as real-world strategies, tactics, and personal guidance to use along the way.
TAKE BACK A PROPOSAL OR ACTION ITEM
Participants will ideate and SHARE their idea, concept, or solution to their problem using a storyboard. DON’T WORRY…you will have time and support during the 4 days to focus on Decisions Making, Design Thinking, Developing Ideas, Storytelling.
Finally, you will have time to focus on something you are personally interested in or needed to imagine without distractions or time constraints. Every participant will go back with a proposal to share and/or an action item to implement.
SAMPLE OF A STOYBOARD
Can you come join me and the My Disney Class in Orlando this June? What would you like to focus on for you personalized project? Please keep in mind that your idea, concept, or solution to a problem does not need to come from my list of examples. I hope to see you in Florida!
See You Real Soon,
Erin
