Not sure if this blog will have any specific focus or topic. It has been a rough, few weeks or year. I know we are all just trying to manage our day-to-day responsibilities amongst a pandemic. Is it me or does it just seem like once we adjust to one thing something else smacks us in the face? But if there is one thing I know; it is that teachers are AMAZING human beings. Not heroes, but good human beings.
I can’t even begin to express the concern that I have about the toll all of this synchronous and asynchronous is taking on teachers. To send cheerful and uplifting words does not sound like enough, but we can certainly take moments to lift ourselves up. Let’s try and keep some things simple and that means a quick message that reminds us of our why.
Our why can easily be lost during a time when our profession feels chaotic and beyond overwhelming. I wonder if we recall our why if it would help us get a little more centered. Let us try to hone in on something, just one thing that excites us and then try to let go of one thing that does us no good. This might be asking too much, but let’s try it anyways. Why not? What can it hurt?
First, I am hopeful that by revisiting or identifying your why will just reinforce not only your purpose but the gift that you give to each one of your students. Simon Sinek has a company or movement based on helping “inspire people to do the things that inspire them so that, together, each of us can change our world for the better.” I personally believe educators are already helping change the world, this fact just might be getting lost in the craziness of the school year during a pandemic, but it is the truth.
My What
I have an amazing resource that flourished during COVID19. I have a network of friends, educators, and entrepreneurs that have lifted me up and been a support for me whenever I need it.
My How
My unique value is that I am great with relationships, so I not only leverage those special connections to keep me positive but also to inspire and support others.
My Why
To inspire and support teachers. 😊
Take a moment for yourself. Think about a part of your why; identify just 1 motivation, purpose, cause, belief, or inspiration. Sometimes we just need to remind ourselves why we are doing what we are doing. Teachers are rock stars, and the profession is chock full of purpose.
See You Real Soon,
